Coastline Journey: Monterey & Carmel
Monterey and Carmel are wonderful in April, when spring brings clear coastal light, seasonal travel activity, and all the beauty of the Monterey Peninsula without the height of summer crowds.
Monterey is great for waterfront time, the aquarium, Cannery Row, and scenic drives, while Carmel has that storybook village feel with galleries, boutiques, wine tasting, and a beautiful white-sand beach.
Guests can make a full day of it by spending the morning in Monterey - perhaps at the aquarium, Cannery Row, or Old Fisherman's Wharf - and then heading to Carmel for an afternoon of walking, shopping, tasting rooms, or beach time.
If time allows, add the iconic 17-Mile Drive between Monterey and Carmel for dramatic ocean vistas, cypress-lined viewpoints, and some of the peninsula's most memorable scenery.
This is an especially good recommendation for guests looking for a polished, romantic, and distinctly California coastal experience.
